First Batch of Yak-130 Arrived in Vietnam

In 2019, Russia and Vietnam officially signed a contract worth $350-million for 12 Yakovlev Yak-130 two-seat advanced jet trainers and light combat aircraft.

On November 13, 2021, reportedly that the first batch consisting of six Yak-130 has arrived in Phu Cat airbase, Bình Định Province, Vietnam. Camouflage for the Yak-130 of the Vietnam People's Air Force is similar to that of Su-30MK2.

Yak-130s will replace the aging air fleet of Czech-built Aero L-39s training planes that have long been the staple of the Vietnam People's Air Force.

These Yak-130s are expected to serve with the 940th Aviation Training Regiment.
