Indian Navy anti-submarine Romeo helicopters begins flight trials in US

The first of the 24 MH-60 ‘Romeo’ anti-submarine helicopters, meant for the Indian Navy, has taken to the sky in New York for flight trials and is likely to arrive in India by the end of July.

The helicopters are designed to operate from frigates, destroyers, cruisers and aircraft carriers.

The MH-60R is known as “the world’s most advanced maritime helicopter." And for good reason – there’s already more than 300 of them operating worldwide.Currently deployed with the US Navy as the primary anti-submarine warfare anti-surface weapon system for open ocean and littoral zones, the helicopters are considered the world's most advanced maritime helicopter.
